AMD has announced the new Radeon 6700 XT , closing a cycle of presentations that began in late 2020 with the RTX 3000 and Radeon 6000 series, which led to the arrival of the new generation of video cards. rendering. . Availability of the Radeon 6700 XT is scheduled for mid-March,
with an MSRP of $ 479 excluding tax.
A video card designed for 1440p
AMD has designed the new Radeon RX 6700 XT for the 1440p,
the benchmarks shown during the conference speak for themselves, as they
compare the newcomer with the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070 at this resolution.
To achieve a high frame rate in 1440p AMD employed the RDNA 2 architecture ,
with the Navi 22 GPU being built at 7 nanometers. In all, 40 Compute Units are
available for a total of 2560 Stream Processors . On the Radeon RX 6800, the
slightly superior model, 3840 are available, the previous generation Radeon
5700 XT had the same number of computing units, but based on RDNA architecture,

stated that the 6700 XT works with a Boost Clock of 2581 MHz , against 2250

dedicated to rendering with active Ray Tracing, while the memory is 12 GB of
GDDR6 RAM , on a 192-bit bus, all with a TDP of 230 W. As in the higher models

Ryzen processors, which offers 96 MB of buffer to speed up the management of
data in the video memory.
The dissipation system is based on two fans while the power
is supplied by two PCIe connectors, one from eight and the other from six pins.
The available interfaces include three Display Port 1.4 and an HDMI 2.1 in this
reference model, but AMD's partners will be able to customize them at will,
including more advanced dissipation systems.
On the performance front, the information released by AMD
indicates that the 6700 XT positions itself above competitors such as the GTX
1070 Ti and the RTX 2080, two of the models used for the comparison during the
presentation.
In another slide, however, it was compared with the RTX 3060
Ti and the RTX 3070, always remaining above the first and placing itself close
to the second. Respectable performance, which however will be paid, because the
price of $ 479 excluding taxes should not be deceiving, in Italy the cost will
be much higher, especially for the more powerful variants and with advanced
dissipation systems.
